Photoshop Digital Art: Evaluate your Composition
Ready to learn more about Photoshop digital art?
Once you reach the end of each step in this series, it’s a good idea to stop and evaluate the overall composition of your drawing.
This way, you’ll be able to see if there are any major problem areas which need to be addressed.
In the beginning of this video, you can see the large dark spot of hair in the middle of the drawing behind the ear that needs to be lightened to match the look of the other hair.
Tightening a Highlight
Here you can see a thin dark line that has been added around the highlight of the ball of the nose.
While this would not appear in real life, for the purposes of your painting it has a really nice effect of subtly boosting the highlight beyond what is possible by completely following the rules of life.
When learning Photoshop digital art, it’s worth remembering that a little artistic licence can sometimes go a long way!
Adding to the Eyebrows
So far the eyebrows have been left relatively flat, and it’s time to grab a thin brush and start to bring out the lighter tones.
While you are working take care to keep a chaotic effect for this king so as to match the other subtle details that are pushing his crazy look.

You’ve spent the last few lessons watching Mark touch up this drawing, but to make sure you are getting the most out of this, try and see which areas are standing out as needing work on your own.
(Hint – there’s no right or wrong answer here. The goal is just to grow as an artist by asking important questions)
